The Lord Fights Our Battles

Today’s Reading Exodus 13-15

Focal Scripture: Exodus 14:25 ”He caused their chariot wheels to swerve and made them drive with difficulty. “Let’s get away from Israel,” the Egyptians said, “because the Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!”

What are other people’s testimony about how God works in our lives? This is a very profound question that gleans a pretty serious answer. How people view our walk and our faith can have a major impact on us but especially a lost generation.

Here we have the Egyptians ferociously hunting down the Israelites. They have come to the conclusion that they can’t let them go after all and must bring them back to Egypt to work. However, the Lord promised to take care of the Israelites. The Egyptians would be slowed down and would eventually die in the Red Sea. God took care of a big problem that the Israelites were not prepared to deal with as they traveled.

In our own lives we have to have faith and confidence that God will fight on our behalf. Eve when things seem dark and no hope is evident a belief that God will look after his obedient children is a must. The belief was so strong that the Egyptians knew that what was happening was not normal. The Lord got the credit not the Israelites.

The same is true for us as we go along our daily lives. When life gets difficult we don’t have to fight our own battles unless we are explicitly commanded to by the Lord. We must have a faith that trusts and a demeanor that glorifies the Lord.

People will come after you in all types of ways in your life. They will talk about you, gossip about you, be nice to your face all while planning your demise. They will not support you or what you do publicly because they have a personal problem with you. Our calling is to be faithful and have the Lord fight our battles.

When everything is said and done it shouldn’t be said “Look what they did.” It should be said the Lord took care of that situation and they were faithful in difficult circumstances.

Tomorrow I plan to read Exodus 16-18
