Today’s Reading Exodus 1-3
Focal Scripture: Exodus 2:24 “God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.”
Sometimes life gets difficult. This is where we find the Israelites. All of their leaders have died. A new king of Egypt who did not know Joseph is in charge. This king is not nice and he only wants to punish the Israelites. He is afraid that they will become to many and become an enemy if war broke out. To stop that from happening he appointed taskmasters to make their lives miserable. (This is an example of poor leadership) He also wanted all males who were born to be thrown into the Nile.
As you can imagine the Israelites had much to complain about and they did. I am sure they complained daily about their situation and how they were being treated. It probably felt like God had left them just to suffer. However, we see here that God was listening the entire time. God hears his people when they cry out to him when they are being mistreated. However, the deliverance may not happen when or how you are expecting.
My hope for you today is that you will continue to push through whatever circumstance is hurting you today. Maybe you have a health affliction and you are crying out to God for deliverance. Or you could have a boss that makes your work environment awful. They pretend to like you but it is obvious they want you to leave so they do everything they can to make that happen. It could be a spouse who is not kind. They might treat you unfairly or even attack you mentally. You pray for help and it seems that God is not listening.
Be encouraged today that God hears you. Your prayers do not fall on deaf ears. Your groaning matters to God. When you suffer God takes notice. Take heart that God will deliver you from your circumstance. However, I can’t tell you how that will happen or how long it will take. Our hope is that we will be delivered in this life or in the next. So whenever you doubt that God is listening, know that he does and he cares. He cares so much that he will come to your aid just in time. Not before of after.
