How Much Are You Willing to Wrestle With God to Know Him More

Today’s Reading Genesis 30-32

Focal Scripture: Genesis 32:26 “Then he said to Jacob, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

We typically fight for things that matter. Someone says something about your favorite sports team, your willing to argue your point no matter what. If you want a better job or a promotion, you will fight your way to the top. Here in this account we know that Jacob is in a wrestling match. He is holding on for dear life because he wants something from him. Even after having his hip dislocated Jacob was determined to be blessed. He wanted more of God than the average person.

My question today is this, are you willing to hold onto God and wrestle with him? Are you desperate for God to do a work in your life? Currently in our culture Christians are passive. They want all the benefits of knowing God but they really do not want to put in the time to know him on a deeper level.

I am not sure where you are today in your walk. However, I encourage you today to wrestle with God. Do whatever it takes to know him more intimately. Make him the priority in your life. Allow his presence to break down what you are holding onto.

Wrestle with God. Don’t let go. Be passionate about your presence with the creator. Don’t be like everyone else.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Genesis 33-35
