Waiting on God to Give you Answers

Todays Reading Genesis 8-11

Focal Scripture: Genesis 8:12 “After he had waited another seven days, he sent out the dove, but it did not return to him again.”

Here we see Noah right in the middle of God’s will but patiently waiting to get off the boat. Noah has done everything that God has asked of him. Noah built the ark, was patient, handled the animals, prepared the food, warned the people and then the flood came. Now he waited for the waters to subside. I am imagining that the ark after a few days was a difficult place to be stuck. First, road trips with family are difficult enough but now it is being done in the middle of a flood. Then you have the responsibility of taking care of so many tasks. I am sure he was waiting to get off that ark!

So what does this tell us about our own spiritual life? We know that even when we are in the middle of God’s will and everything seems fine we have to wait for God’s timing and not ours when we are looking for answers. Noah had to wait 370 days on the ark from rainfall to exit. Even when he knew that the land was ready he waited even longer. So it must be with us. Often we want to rush through and get answers quickly.

So my challenge to you today is this, what are you waiting on God to show you? In your waiting are you being patient for God’s timing or are you trying to push doors open. I encourage you today to wait patiently on God because he knows what is best and exactly when we need our answer.
