The Lord Who Forgives

Today’s Reading, Psalms 126-132

Focal Scripture: Psalms 130:3-4 “Lord, if you kept an account of iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be revered.”

We are all aware of the wrong that we do in our lives. We know what sins we commit and the struggles that we have. We struggle with forgiving ourselves when we mess up. Often we hold onto our own mistakes and beat ourselves up over them.

Thankfully we serve a God who does not hold our sins against us once they are forgiven. He does not remeber our sin or use it as a weapon in our lives. If he did we would not be able to stand before the Lord. Our judgement would be too much for us to bear.

We can claim with the Psalmist that our God forgives and because of that he is to be revered. In this context animals were sacrificed to cover sin. This was the way that God would forgive and forget the sins of the people. Death would occur, the blood would be applied, and then forgiveness given out.

For believers we know that Christ became our sacrifice. He took our punishment and suffered on the cross. He bleed for us and thankfully that blood covered our sin. This only applies if we trust that Jesus is the only one who can forgive sins.

Be encouraged today if you’re a believer that God has forgiven and forgotten your sin. He does not hold it against you anymore. If you don’t believe in God know this, your sins can be forgiven. He is waiting on you to put your trust in him.

He is the Lord who forgives. Has he forgiven you? He is the only who is able!
