Deep Roots and Amazing Fruit

Today’s Reading, Jeremiah 14-17

Focal Scripture: Jeremiah 17:8 “He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.”
‭‭

Trust makes a big difference. In our personal lives we know that trust leads to deeper relationships and deeper connection. When trust is absent it usually is difficult to earn back. Especially if trust is ever broken.

Here is today’s reading we get a conversation between God and Jeremiah. In this section trust is the topic. If Jeremiah trusts God then his roots will go deep and stretch out very far. Because of these deep roots the heat won’t hurt it and the plants will thrive. Even when life is difficult and the droughts come through person who trusts the Lord will do well.

For us as believers we must ask ourselves a simple and yet profound question. Do we really trust the Lord? The evidence is in our roots and our fruit. If we have deep roots it will show when life gets difficult. If we have good fruit others will be able to see the evidence. Trusting the Lord makes all the difference.

If you’re struggling to trust the Lord ask yourself why. Is it because others have hurt you? Maybe God didn’t do something you asked him to do. Whatever the reason I challenge you to give it to God. Trust him with everything and know that he is going to do a great work in your life when you surrender.

Strive to have deep roots and amazing fruit. It makes all the difference.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Jeremiah 18-22
