Today’s Reading, John 9-10
Focal Scripture: John 10:27-28 “My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.”
Do you know what it is like to have confidence that something will happen? You know no matter what that the promise will take place. I can say that I have been blessed in my life to have a few people in my life that I can trust completely. I know that if they say it, it will happen. It might not happen immediately but it will happen.
In today’s reading Jesus is explaining how he is the good shepherd. That his sheep hear his voice and will follow him. He gives them life and they will never perish. Much more than that nobody can snatch them out of his hand. Jesus is demonstrating that they can have complete confidence in him.
So the question must be asked. Do you have confidence in Jesus? Do you believe he will do what he says? These things include giving believers eternal life, secure salvation, forgiveness of sin, and power to walk with him daily. Also a promise that Jesus will never lose the ones who are in his hand. We can have assurance in Jesus.
This truth should give us a firm foundation and should challenge our thinking. What I mean is do you live with confidence in Christ? Do you live in a way that shows hope in the victory of Jesus? Imagine what would happen if we lived confidently in the promises of Christ. Our lives would change. People around us would be benefit from victorious Christian living.
I am not talking about material wealth or victory. I am talking about a faith that gets things done. A confidence that shows truth in the gospel. A lifestyle that demonstrates hope in Christ. A willingness to live according to biblical principles.
This is a challenge for me personally. However, it is a mindset that must happen. My lack of trust sometimes shows my lack of confidence in Christ finished work. For this to change I must live in a way that shows CHRIST is my victor.
If I can have confidence in man I must have more confidence in my King.
Tomorrow I plan on reading John 11-12
