Today’s Reading, 2 Corinthians 1-4
Focal Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 “We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.”
Getting a victory is one of the best feelings and truths in the world. As former head football coach I remember my first win. Almost every detail of that game is etched into my memory. Why you may ask? Because when you put in hours from your family and spend time with student athletes you appreciate the victories. It is a celebration of all the pain, loss, and sacrifice to accomplish a goal.
In today’s reading Paul is explaining what real victory looks like in Jesus and what our attitude should be during our life challenges. When we are afflicted by the cared of the world we are not crushed by them. We can be perplexed by life and not be in despair over the situation. When we are persecuted we are never alone. Even when we are beat down we are not destroyed. We have victory in this life because of Jesus and his marvelous light.
I am not sure where you are in life today but be encouraged. Even though we are not promised to never suffer we are promised that it won’t defeat us. We have a victory that is guaranteed no matter what happens in our life. Take every circumstance as a learning experience. Take the struggles as a way for God to build your faith. Celebrate the victories in your life because we must remind ourselves of God’s goodness.
If life has you beat down and you need a victory know that you already have it as a believer. God gets the glory for the victory we claim. God gets the glory because he is good. God gets the glory because when victories are won on our behalf it just means more. Let us remember these victories and hold our heads high because of Christ!
Victory in Jesus!
Tomorrow I Plan on reading 2 Corinthians 5-9
