Today’s Reading, 1 Chronicles 15-17
Focal Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:11 “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.”
What do you seek the most of in your life? Is it fame? Money? Being seen as a person who is respected at the top of your profession. No matter what, we all are seeking after something in our daily lives. I know at times I have sought after education and success. However, these things are not what our hearts and minds should be focused on as we go about our day. It should be to seek the face of God daily and passionately.
In today’s reading we see David write a prayer of thanksgiving. In it he explains how he feels about the Lord. He pours out his heart and reveals that his success is secondary to his desire to know the Lord intimately. Think of the implications behind the King making the statement to seek his face daily. It means to actively pursue until you find it and have it in your possession. In biblical terms he was seeking Gods face until he experienced a divine meeting with the Holy One.
The challenge for us as believers is that we are tempted to seek everything and anything other than God’s face. Sometimes we have needs that have to be addressed. Family members need to be taken care of or even personal struggles that take up our time. These things need our attention. They must be addressed in our lives. However, they should be secondary in our passion to seek his face daily.
As you live you go about your life the next few days make it intentional to seek God more than you do anything else. Still pursue what needs to be done but make God your priority. You will be surprised how much more gets done. You will be amazed how much more relaxed your life will be when you seek after God first.
I am not telling you life will be perfect but what I am telling you is that your soul will become aligned with the Lord. You will find peace in the journey and your wisdom will expound because of this process.
Seek Gods face and fight for it daily. Be like Jacob and refuse to let go until God does a work in you personally. Think about the difference that would make in our circles of influence.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading 1 Chronicles 18-21
