Amaze Jesus With Your Faith

Today’s Reading, Matthew 7-8

Focal Scripture: Matthew 8:10 “Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith.”

Receiving a compliment makes everyone’s day better. It doesn’t matter if it is as small “Hey, I like your shoes.” Or even if it is a big compliment because you changed the course of someone’s life by how you treated them in your interactions. Knowing that somebody takes notice of you as a person encourages you to keep living that way and demonstrates that your fruit is noticed by others.

In today’s reading Jesus compliments the Centurion’s faith about Jesus ability to heal. We are told that his servant was sick and he believed that Jesus could heal his servant from a distance. Jesus was very impressed by this man’s faith and told him to his face that he has not found anyone in Israel who had a faith that powerful. Having faith makes all the difference when we approach the Lord.

Being very transparent I have difficulty with this practice in my life. I know what the Bible teaches and that God is all powerful. I know he takes care of his people who are faithful but I have times where my faith is weak. I question God and I question my circumstances. However, that must change if I am going to live a life that makes a difference personally and corporately.

My hearts desire is to amaze Jesus with my faith. I want to believe in what he says so much I know that it has already happened. When I was younger in my faith journey I had a faith like that when I prayed. However, since I have gotten older and more mature my faith has been more shallow at times. I need more evidence before I believe. I need to see God move tangibly then my heart will move.

That thinking is wrong. God desires for me to have a child like faith. He desires for you to have a childlike faith. Our faith should surpass that of the centurions. My prayer is that I will believe God to do big and mighty works because he wants to and he is able. I want to have a faith that impresses Jesus.

My goal is to have Jesus tell me when I see him face to face that nobody has ver had a faith like you on Earth. What is your goal concerning your faith?

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Matthew 9-10
