Today’s Reading, 2 Corinthians 5-9
Focal Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:20 “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.””
We all know what it is to be an ambassador in our personal lives. Don’t believe me, think of how many times you have spoken on behalf of someone else. Maybe it was to order food for them at a restaurant. Perhaps, a parent had you go ask someone else a question for them because they were tied up on another errand. It could have even been at a job where you had to speak for the company. The point is that we all know how to speak on behalf of another person.
In today’s reading Paul tells the church at Corinth that they are ambassadors for Christ. They are to make an appeal to others on Christ’s behalf that they need to be reconciled to God. They have been given a mission. They can’t sit on the sidelines and just expect people to know what it takes to be saved. Paul is challenging the church to share the gospel with everyone, everywhere.
So are you an active ambassador for Christ? This is probably one of the biggest areas that professing believers struggle with in their walk. They will receive all the benefits of being a follower. However, they won’t share their faith or tell others they need to get right with God. Yes, it is intimidating to share the message with others. But being an ambassador requires us to ignore our fear and proclaim a message that is bigger than us.
If I can encourage you in any way today it is to be bold in your faith. Our message is simple. Jesus came to die for sinners. He died on our behalf, was buried and rose again. If a person wants to be declared righteous they must be reconciled to God. Share your story of how God has worked in your life. Tell others how you were reconciled to the Lord. Don’t underestimate the power you have as an ambassador for Christ. By sharing your story you may get the chance to see someone go from death to life.
Fulfill your mission and trust the Lord. Be his ambassador and watch your mission play out in front of you.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading 2 Corinthians 10-13
