Today’s Reading, Jeremiah 32-34
Focal Scripture: Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.”
We all want to know deep things in our life. Those questions that nag at us and we don’t have clear answers to when we think about them. For instance why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Or why is the sky blue? Or they could be more serious questions.
Here in these verses we see the Lord speaking to Jeremiah. We get great insight into the character of God. God tells Jeremiah that he is always listening. God has answers and those answers will be great and incomprehensible. When we pray we must be reminded that our Lord wants to do great works and demonstrate his character.
As believers we should be overjoyed by these verses. It demonstrates that God is listening. God wants to have deep conversations with us and reveal his will in our life. We also know that God will reveal hidden things. I want to make clear that this does not mean we will get our way or always have clear answers to situations. What it does mean is that God will speak to his people. That includes you and me.
So the challenge for these verses is to comprehend that God speaks. He speaks to us through his word and through prayer. He will reveal truth in a way that he sees fit and in a time that he sees fit. We may get some answers on Earth. We may have to wait until we get to heaven to understand other things. Make no mistake though, God will reveal his will and his great plans.
We can actually already take comfort that he has revealed so much to us already. We know deep truths because God allows it to be so.
Tomorrow I plan on reading Jeremiah 35-37
