Religion, race, politics, culture and injustices. Right now, everyone has an opinion on these topics. Most of what is being written right now and said comes from personal preferences on these topics. However, very few people are examining these important topics from a biblical perspective. With that being said this blog is being started for a few reasons.
First, I want to hold myself more accountable in my daily devotionals. I want to share biblical insights to help encourage and to engage our culture. What I read in my personal study I will apply here in this blog. It will come from Bible readings, devotionals, books, and sermons.
Next, I see many people who are hurting and have no sense of hope. I want to write this blog and share the hope that I have. I believe that Jesus is our only hope (Colossians 1:27). You may not believe that statement. However, I hope you do not stay where you are in your unbelief and you are radically changed by the power of Christ. He is constant and consistent.
Finally, I am writing this blog so I can contribute theology to current situations. I hear many believers complain about the state of society and the world today. I often hear about how are freedoms are being taken away. I hear about the laws and attitudes that are clearly anti-Christian. I rarely hear however, how we as believers should live in this changing culture.
I want this blog to be a glimpse into how God is working in me. I also want this blog to show how believers can and should engage the culture around us. Instead of being overwhelmed with our circumstances, we should take this opportunity to engage our culture like never before. It is time that our theology collides with the culture. Hence the name Thinking Theologian.
I pray that this blog will minister to you. You will find comfort not because of the words I write but because of Christ. It is and always will be about him.
