Desire to Be Blameless with Your Conduct

Today’s Reading, Proverbs 10-12

Focal Scripture: Proverbs 11:20 “Those with twisted minds are detestable to the Lord, but those with blameless conduct are his delight.”

How one behaves and conducts themselves is a look into their heart. I am not talking about the very rare occurrence of someone losing their cool or acting out of character. I am talking about a persons conduct over an extended period of time. Conduct is what drives a person and it is how we view them in light of their responses. I have seen many students have intelligence but lack good conduct. I have seen adults with skills but their conduct was inconsistent and embarrassing.

In today’s verse we see Solomon say that those who have twisted minds are detestable to the Lord. These are minds that think one way is good but in actuality what they are doing is evil. How can we tell? By observing their conduct. A person with a twisted mind will say one thing and behave in the opposite way of their speech. Their conduct will expose them for who they really are in their hearts. However, we see those who have blameless conduct are the Lord’s delight. Blameless here does not mean perfect. It means a person with an intact character, one that is honest and without blemish. These are people who are the same no matter where they are in life.

We all know people who act differently depending on where they are at the moment. They will demonstrate one attitude and speech to a select few then behave in ways that are opposite of what is appropriate. This is not the godly expectation that is set before us as believers. These people have twisted minds and twisted characters. These people need to make sure they are regenerate believers and know the saving power of the Lord.

Our calling as believers is to live in such a way it draws people to the Lord. Our very lifestyle should make people ask questions about why we are different. For us to live differently we need to know what is expected and that means a devoted life mentally, verbally and spiritually. We need to submit every area of our lives to the Lord. Our conduct matters and it should be a tool to bring people to Jesus.

So how is your conduct and does it bring glory to the Lord? This is a question we all must answer.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Proverbs 13-15
