Today’s Reading, Jeremiah 30-31
Focal Scripture: Jeremiah 31:33 “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days” — the Lord’s declaration. “I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
Having something on your heart makes a large impact. Having something written on your heart will last forever. We know this to be true I our daily lives. We have many things that we care about and we hold dear. However, we have very few things that are etched into the fabric of who we are as people. Those things however are important beyond belief.
That is where we find our reading for today. The Lord has explained that he will deliver his people after the days of judgement. He will put his teachings within them and even write it on their hearts. This is more than just knowledge that the Lord will give it is a personal touch that will mark them as unique. They will be his people and he will be their God. A major shift will take place from this event.
The application for this truth should encourage us to know the Lord is always at work. Even when the Israelites were disobedient God was still providing hope. That hope came from him and his word. His word is so important that he wants it etched on their hearts as a permanent reminder of who he is and what he can do. The Lord also wants that for us in our lives. He wants us to have his word etched on our hearts.
I challenge you today to know God intimately. Even if your life is falling apart seek to know God and keep his word. Ask him to help you have his word etched on your heart and watch how it will change you forever. The Lord’s teaching is powerful. His word will help us know how to live and how to make good decisions. What is written on our hearts will be revealed to ourselves and to others.
Let’s make sure it honors God.
Tomorrow I plan on reading Jeremiah 32-34
