Today’s Reading, Revelation 12-15
Focal Scripture: Revelation 15:4 “Lord, who will not fear and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All the nations will come and worship before you because your righteous acts have been revealed.”
When truth is revealed it is liberating for all involved. I know of several people who have been in court for a variety of reasons. Accusations were made and witnesses would make claims from their point of view. In all of these cases where I was privy to the details, the truth was hidden until the right time. Each time the truth was revealed it brought peace to the people involved. It also exposed those who had ulterior motives. Even though they had to suffer for a little while the truth finally came to public view.
In today’s reading the reality of Christ will be revealed to all at the end. For a few chapters we see how the devil and his counterfeit will try to mimic the power of God. They will be given power and authority for a short time. They will be cruel in their rule and in their judgement. If you don’t worship them, you will be cut off and given no hope. However, in the midst of this terrible time, Jesus will be revealed. The scriptures tell us that right before God’s wrath is revealed he will be worshipped by seven angels. They sing a song that declares his worthiness and his majesty. His worthiness and majesty is declared to the nations. He alone is worthy to be praised because his acts have been revealed. Jesus is no longer hiding who he really is to the universe and the Earth. As it was in the beginning his divinity is seen by all during this time.
I hope you don’t lose focus during this discussion. Right now, our human minds have a hard time of understanding just how marvelous and awe inspiring the Lord truly is in our lives and the universe. We have our view of God that is palatable and minimized. We do this because to try and grasp the wonders of God would drive us insane. He is not a person that can be summed up with human words. He is the creator of the universe that must be experienced. We only get the full effect when he is completely revealed.
I challenge you today to change your thinking about God. The book of revelation starts out with a vision of Jesus. We are then told he is the only one who is worthy to open the scroll. Now we are told he will reveal himself and all of the nations will come to worship him, because he is worthy. How we think about God and our attitude will impact our worship and our conversations. If he is just a man, we will live life in a passive way. However, if he is God in the flesh, with complete and total power, we will live with passion and purpose.
Know that he will be revealed to the universe soon. You will either worship him as Savior and Lord with joy or you will worship him with fear and trembling, knowing you missed him your life.
He has been reveled to us today. Follow him and give him all that you have, not because you are required to but because he has changed your life. We will see the revealed Christ one day soon. I hope you are looking forward to it with anticipation, not dread.
