How You Follow The Lord Matters

Today’s Reading Joshua 12-15

Focal Scripture: Joshua 14:8 “My brothers who went with me caused the people to lose heart, but I followed the Lord my God completely.”

What a condemning statement. The people that went with Caleb caused the people to lose heart. Caleb went against the grain and was rewarded for it later in his life. Caleb was steadfast. Caleb was solid.

Caleb was not normal. He did not allow the outside world to influence him. He was focused on Gods promises and knew that mission was more important than all others. Caleb did what was right no matter the cost.

Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing. Even when people want to control narratives and situations. I personally never want to be responsible for leading people to lose heart.

However, I see it happen all the time. People will try to make others lose heart by creating doubt. Questioning motives or stirring up drama. Thinking the worst about people’s decisions and why they think the way they do. Being that type of person shows no faith in God.

The challenge for believers today is to trust completely in Gods Sovereignty. To know that following him at all cost matters. As individuals we will make mistakes. But those mistakes are learning opportunities. Believers today need to trust God in all situations.

Following God must lead people to see an active faith. I know in my personal life I have struggles. I know how I think is difficult for some people because on one hand I am strict on following the law but am open to try anything. Freedom to serve and follow God.

The point is this, today. Be a person who shows faith and your passion will influence others. Follow the lord completely. Follow who he created you to be, it’s ok to be different.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Joshua 16-18
