Jesus Prays For Us

Today’s Reading, John 16-18

Focal Scripture: John 17:24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they will see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the world’s foundation.”

Knowing that you are being prayed for makes a huge impact in your life. Especially when the person prays for you immediately and not just says they are going to pray for you. Hearing someone lift you up to God about a situation you are facing or are going to face is encouraging and brings peace.

In today’s verse Jesus is praying for future believers. This includes you and me. He prays that those who God has given him will be with him when he goes to heaven. He wants us to see his glory. Jesus is openly praying for future believers to have confidence in the coming kingdom. He prays that we will have the love that was demonstrated between God and Jesus would be in us also. He is praying that we will love in a godly manner. That we will be different because of the relationship with Jesus.

How do you view your daily life now that you know Jesus has prayed for you? He prayed that we would have his glory. That we would be one. He also prayed that the world would know that God sent Jesus. These prayers are powerful and encouraging. Jesus prayed for us before his death. He prayed a prayer of encouragement that we can apply to our lives.

I am not sure where you are today in your spiritual life. If you are struggling be encouraged that Jesus saw you before you were born. Be encouraged that Jesus knows your spiritual needs. He knows that when you’re weak you need to be lifted up.

How does this happen? We have a promise that we will be with Jesus one day! We will see him as he really is, in all his glory. We will love the way God loves. Jesus prayed to the father. We know that God always hears Jesus. His prayer was answered. His prayer was for us to be lifted up and reminded that he would always be with us.

If you are struggling today know that you have been prayed for by Jesus. Hold your head up high because of his finished work. Be encouraged that one day you will see Jesus and all his glory.

Tomorrow I plan on reading John 19-21
