No Savior But God

Today’s Reading, Hosea 8-14

Focal Scripture: Hosea 13:4 “I have been the Lord your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but me, and no Savior exists besides me.”

Sometimes we can lose sight of the what is most important when life gets in the way. Right now in our country we are experiencing a lot of emotions and people are processing current events. We witnessed an assassination of a prominent public figure. We saw a young woman brutally murdered for no reason. We have seen people ignore this reality. We have even seen people rejoice over a persons death. With these experiences we can lose sight of the most important truth in our lives that he is the Lord our God.

In our reading today we see that the Lord reminds the people who he is to them in their current situation. He was with them in Egypt and he is with them through their current situation. There only hope is that the Lord is the only true Savior in the world. The Jewish people knew this but had to be reminded. They can’t miss this reality because of where they are personally, emotionally, or spiritually.

So what does this mean for us as believers? It means the answer to our problems we are facing right now is Jesus. He is the only Savior. He is the only one who matters. He is the only one who can truly change the hearts of people. Our world is broken. Our world is full of evil. However, we have the solution and that solution changes lives.

I encourage you today to be bold with your faith. I encourage you today to tell people that Jesus is the only Savior of the world. Tell people your story and how Jesus changed your life. There is no salvation in anyone else other than God. Our answers are not found in earthly men, they are found in a humble servant who chose to die for sinners.

If your heart is heavy right now know the answer is Christ. If you are in despair over the world the answer is Christ. We all have only one Savior and he is more than capable of doing a great work.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Joel 1-3
