Pain Will Not Last Forever

Today’s Reading 1 Chronicles 3-5

Focal Scripture: 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 “Jabez was more honored than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez and said, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would bless me, extend my border, let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience pain.” And God granted his request.”

Jabez was born in pain. At the end of his prayer to God he asked to be kept from pain. This is an honorable request. Nobody wants to experience pain or heartache. Even though there are some people who go out of their way to inflict pain on others. Jabez was asking for protection form them also.

Even though a book has been written about these verses it is still important to highlight them. Jabez was bold and brave in his prayer to God. He wanted to be blessed, have his territory increase, have God’s hand with him, be kept from harm and not experience pain.

He was bold in his prayer and the Lord heard and answered.

The application of this for believers is that the Lord knows our prayers, hears them and has the ability to grant our requests. One of the biggest obstacles we all face is pain. Nobody wants pain or embraces it when they go through it. However, not everyone has the prayer answered. Some people experience lots of pain but even if they do God can use it for good.

This is an important lesson for all believers. Pray big prayers. Especially if you are going through pain. Right now I am having to walk through this in my personal life. Circumstances around me don’t make sense and situations point towards people wanting to inflict pain. My course of action? Trust the Lord and know that he hears my prayer. Wether the pain is not allowed to happen or it does God is faithful.

Most importantly the pain will not last forever.

Tomorrow I plan to read 1 Chronicles 6
