Sin Requires a Bloody Sacrifice

Todays Reading Genesis 1 – 3

Focal Scripture Gen 3:21 “The LORD God made clothing from skins for the man and his wife, and he clothed them.”

It is hard to fathom that the first time blood hit the ground after creation was not at the hands of man but God. The beginning of the Bible goes into great detail about the creation account. It explains where light, land, and life came from and how amazing that process was. The scriptures than go on to tell us how humanity began. The careful attention and intimate process that God used to make man and woman. We also see the great care that God took in providing for Adam and Eve. He provided food and instructions on how to live in the paradise that he created.

However, temptation came and doubt crept in the minds of Adam and Eve. What they saw was more important than what God said and it cost them greatly. Even in the midst of their disobedience God cared about them passionately. When they became aware of their nakedness God stepped in and sacrificed animals that he just created. Adam watched as God performed the first animal sacrifice and he learned an important lesson. Sin brings death but God provides a way for reconciliation.

My hope and prayer for you today is two fold. 1. If you are not a believer know that God sent his son to die for your sins. Instead of clothing your nakedness he wants to clothe you in his righteousness. 2. If you are a believer who doubts how much God cares for you remember that he sees you just as you are and still sent Jesus to die for you.
