The Lord Knows Us Well

Today’s Reading 2 Samuel 22-24

Focal Scripture: 2 Samuel 22:21 “The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; he repaid me according to the cleanness of my hands.”

When you go through difficult times it is nice to know you are known well. David understood that of the people who knew him only the Lord knew him in a way that transcended human relationships.

This is a prayer of thanksgiving that David has written. It gives thanks to God for all that he delivered him through when he was being pursued. God saw David’s heart. How is actions were righteous and his hands were clean.

To the believer reading this be encouraged today. I know the desire to want to fight and defend yourself from false accusations. However, it matters more how God views us when we go through difficulties.

Know that the Lord will reward you when you do the right thing. It may not happen on earth but it will happen. This reward comes from righteousness or right living. Do what is right and watch God honor you even when you’re being attacked.

God also repaid David for the cleanliness of his hands. This means David was innocent of wrong doing. It is tempting to go after those who want to destroy you. The right thing to do is to allow the Lord to handle your battles.

Don’t be like the ones who are seeking evil against you. Be who God created us to be. Live for him with a purpose and know that he will deliver you.

God has us. Nothing can happen to us without his permission.

Tomorrow I plan on reading 1 Kings 1-2
