The Lord Searches Us

Today’s Reading, Proverbs 19-21

Focal Scripture: Proverbs 20:27 “The Lord’s lamp sheds light on a person’s life, searching the innermost parts.”

One of the best parts about being a believer is the fact that Christ knows us and still chooses to redeem us. We see this truth throughout scripture whether it happens with Job or one of the prophets. God’s all knowing and all seeing and he sees us from the inside out.

Here Solomon lets us know that the Lord searches us with his light. It exposes the dark parts of our life and nothing is hidden from him. There is no place to hide and nowhere to have secrets. His light penetrates the very life of all people. Even the innermost parts that are hidden from all others.

What is the implication of this truth for believers? First, we don’t need to try and keep secrets from God when we pray. We need to be open and honest about our struggles and admit them to the Lord. He knows about them and still chooses to redeem us anyway. Next, we need to live in a way that honors him.

Our life’s should be a testimony to others and honor the one who is our creator. I can’t tell you the number of people who justify sins in themselves or in others and expect that it is ok. God searches us because he wants to root out all evilness that will separate us from pure and undefiled worship.

I challenge you to examine yourself daily. Are you a person that fights against your own sin? Do you seek to honor the Lord? How we live matters. God knows us intimately and desires for us to be different. So let’s honor him with our lives.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Proverbs 22-23
