Today’s Reading, Psalms 32-35
Focal Scripture: Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.”
Have you ever experienced a big loss? Have you ever just felt destroyed and crushed by life and circumstances? Maybe it was at the loss of a loved one or you experienced finical ruin. Perhaps you felt the pain of betrayal from someone you care about deeply. No matter what you experienced you faced brokenness and a crushed spirit. You had questions about why things were happening. You may have felt alone and neglected.
However, what our focal verse teaches us today is that the Lord is close to those who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit. This is clearly teaching us that God’s character is not just about dealing with sin it is also about comforting those who hurt. Those who are in pain and need to be consoled. God is both judge and advocate.
I am not sure where you are in your journey today but I want you to know this truth. God loves you and will be close to his people when they suffer. You might feel alone but God is right beside you as your journey through heartache. He knows you better than anyone else and knows exactly what you need to grow in your spiritual walk.
I challenge you today to trust God. Trust his knowledge and trust his love. When you hurt he cares, when you’re crushed he is with you. As a good God he doesn’t stop everything from happening. However, because he is good he teaches us how to rely on him more and more.
God is good. God is faithful. God knows how to take care of us when we are struggling. If you feel broken and crushed today, run to God for help. He knows and understands.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading Psalms 36-39
