The Lord Works Ahead of His People

Today’s Reading, Deuteronomy 1-2

Focal Scripture: Deuteronomy 2:25 “Today I will begin to put the fear and dread of you on the peoples everywhere under heaven. They will hear the report about you, tremble, and be in anguish because of you.’”

The Lord is always working even when we can’t see it in our lives. This truth can fundamentally altar how we approach life and difficult circumstances. It will also change how we approach challenges that seem like they will overtake us on our daily journey. What would change if you had the confidence that the Lord prepares your way?

In today’s reading, the Lord tells Moses that he is going to put fear and dread on all people because of who they are and who they worship. They will hear about the mighty works that God has done and will tremble when confronted with a people who have been chosen by the Lord. The world will be in anguish because the Lord prepares the way for his people. The Lord is always leading and always preparing the way.

Do you believe that the Lord prepares the way for you? I know in my personal life this is a truth I have had to learn the hard way. When I have experienced trouble I wonder what the Lord is up to and can get melancholy. However, when I remember that the Lord has gone before me and walked this path, I become invigorated to face any situation.

About 18 months ago I had to make a decision that was very difficult. I left a thriving student ministry because I could no longer be involved with happenings that were taking place. For a long time, I was frustrated with the Lord and questioned why he allowed that to happen. However, now I realize that the Lord delivered me from a situation I didn’t need to be in because it was unbiblical. The Lord prepared my way and put me in the perfect situation. God sees, God hears, and God acts.

I challenge you today to trust that the Lord has already traveled where you have been and has prepared you to walk through it with confidence. Have a faith that acts and demonstrates that your enemies have no power over you because the Lord puts fear and trembling in their hearts because he is faithful. Walk through life knowing your life is not by chance and your circumstances are part of his redeeming plan.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Deuteronomy 3-4
