The Root Of Jesse

Today’s Reading, Isaiah 9-12

Focal Scripture: Isaiah 11:3-4 “His delight will be in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, he will not execute justice by what he hears with his ears, but he will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with a scepter from his mouth, and he will kill the wicked with a command from his lips.”

Our King is coming! It is always amazing to read about how Christ will be when he comes back in his full glory. We know that this time will be amazing not just for us but also the nation of Israel. The promises deliverer will be at hand and we will get to take part in this glorious time.

In these verses we can see that Jesus will be a perfect judge. He will judge perfectly and accurately. He will judge with right motives and a pure heart. He will dispense justice and it will be done with zero mistakes or flaws. He will take care of the wicked as it is his right to do so.

The implications for this for believers are many. First, we know that Jesus is coming again. This should help us live a life that is holy and pleasant unto the Lord because he will be our perfect judge. Next, this should drive us to tell others about Jesus. This is the lost from every tribe. The Jews don’t believe that Jesus is the root of Jesse. They need to hear the good news. The lost around us are also in denial. Our job is to tell about his greatness.

I challenge you today to have on your thoughts that Jesus is coming back. It could be today or it could be in a 1,000 years. Either way our job is to share the good news about who he is and that he is coming to judge the world. The question is will he find those we love guilty or innocent. In whom they believe will determine that answer.

Let us tell others about the root of Jesse.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Isaiah 13-17
