The Thoughts of the Lord

Today’s Reading, Isaiah 54-58

Focal Scripture: Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration.”

Right thinking makes all the difference. Far too often we try to impose our beliefs and our thoughts on the Lord. That type of thinking will create a false God and not lead to true worship. It will lead to thinking God is like us and views the world the way we do. Thankfully that is not true.

The reading today clearly states that God and humans think two different ways. Our ways are contrary to the ways of God. Praise the Lord this is true. God thinks with eternity in mind. He thinks with holiness and righteousness. His actions are always just and fair. God is the perfect judge. He is the best father. He demonstrates perfection in all he does.

The application for believers should drive us to make decisions and to think like God. We will never achieve that goal on Earth but that should be our goal. Imagine what would happen if believers took seriously of having the mind of Christ. The world around us would be a lot different.

Our challenge is to submit our thinking to the Lord. The way he leads is contrary to the world. Far too often Christians are trying to imitate secular leaders even ones who don’t have a Christian worldview. Since we know our thoughts and ways are not like the Lord we should spend more time with God so we can start making more godly decisions on a daily basis.

It’s time to take serious having a renewed heart and mind.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Isaiah 59-63
