Trust In God’s Promises

Today’s Reading, Genesis 46-47

Focal Scripture: Genesis 46:4 “I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you back. Joseph will close your eyes when you die.”

Stepping out in faith is required to be a believer. The first act of faith happens when a person makes a decision to follow Jesus. You are trusting that Jesus is faithful and will do exactly what he said he would do to save sinners. Then after we are saved we are given opportunities to put our faith into action by trusting the promises of God. We are asked to walk in faith and by faith.

In today’s reading Issac is getting ready to head to Egypt. He makes a sacrifice to the Lord and then he has a vision. In this vision God tells Issac to go to Egypt and know that he will be with him in the journey. He also promised that he will come back to his homeland. When God says he will do something those promises can be taken to heart. These promises from God are trustworthy. Issac had a belief to his bones that God would do what he said.

So what promises in your life do you need to trust in today? As believers we have been given many promises. We have the promise of eternal life. The promise of an eternal home. The guarantee of an advocate, the Holy Spirit, to live in us and give us help. The Bible is full of these promises. They are promises of hope and some promises of judgement.

Our challenge as believers is to trust God in the process of our lives. We know that he will never leave us or forsake us, that is a promise. But do we live that promise out? Our lives will be better when we trust God. What we must do as believers is to examine ourselves and expose areas we don’t trust God fully.

My prayer is that during your time of inspection God will draw out your places of unbelief. That you will drink deep from the well of Gods promises. It changes everything when you trust the God of the universe.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Genesis 48-50
