We Need Supporters To Be Successful

Today’s Reading, 1 Chronicles 12-14

Focal Scripture: 1 Chronicles 12:38 “All these warriors, lined up in battle formation, came to Hebron wholeheartedly determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of Israel was also of one mind to make David king.”

Having a group of people support you in your journey is a big deal. I know in my personal life I have had a group of people I can count on and trust to help me be successful. They helped me accomplish my goals and pushed me to do things I had doubts about in my journey. That is what good friends and supporters do for others.

In today’s reading we see a group of men support David in his journey to be King. These warriors lined up to fight on behalf of David in battle formation. They were ready to do whatever it took to support their friend and their earthly king. Not only were David’s friends helpful but the entire nation was on his side. Imagine the encouragement he felt to begin his kingship.

These supporters played a major role in the life of David. There is no way he would have been able to get started without a group of people pushing him to do great things. This is a truth we all need to learn. When we have the opportunity we need to support those who are on a path to accomplish their God given goals.

The challenge for many people is that they don’t like to support others if it doesn’t benefit them personally. Instead of lifting others up they try to destroy their goals and aspirations. I have seen this scenario play out with other people and it is always heartbreaking to witness.

As believers we should give honest advice to others and also be their biggest cheerleaders. We should support them just like we would want to be supported in our own journey. So if I were to ask you would you be described as a person who is a supporter or a naysayer. If we want to spread good, we need to be more positive than negative.

Our friends should always know we support their God ordained goals. Be a person who is willing to line up and fight for those we know and love.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading 1 Chronicles 15-17
