Today’s Reading, Psalms 21-25
Focal Scripture: Psalms 24:4 “The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not appealed to what is false, and who has not sworn deceitfully.”
Expectations are always good to know and understand. I have been places where expectations were understood and explained. I have also been places where people thought expectations were explained but they never were. The later place constantly had problems and issues. Nobody knew what was happening and nobody knew the desires of the leader. A place and leader that has no expectations or unclear expectations, leads to conflict and confusion.
Thankfully, our God leads with clear expectations. In our reading today David declares what type of person may ascend the holy hill of the Lord. This person must have clean hands and a pure heart. They don’t look to false things or idols for hope. Then they do not make promises that are evil or contrary to what is expected.
This chapter then goes on to tell us that the generation and people who seek the Lord will receive blessings from him. They will be honored because they seek God’s face. They are seeking the King of Glory and his is the one who saves and the one who gives clear expectations on how to enter his kingdom.
The challenge for believers today is to truly examine our hearts and our motives. To ask ourselves if we are worthy to ascend the holy hill of the Lord. It is important to note that David is not declaring perfection. He is declaring that only a person who has been forgiven and changed can go into God’s presence.
This is what must be looked at today by you and even myself. Are we people who have been changed? Has God done a work in our hearts and our lives that we can be declared worthy to enter his presence.
Only you know the answer to that question. If your heart has not changed and sin reigns in your life take heed and repent. Only those who have their sins forgiven and the blood applied can enter the presence of God.
Can you declare that truth with confidence? It will determine your eternity.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading Psalms 26-31
