Will you Die?

The Scripture

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.” (1 John 3:16)

We must die!

Death. Almost everyone has felt the sting of death in our lives. We know the pain, sorrow, and heartache that death can bring. Therefore, we know that death causes pain. For us to be obedient followers fo Christ, we must die daily. However, to die to self is painful. In (Luke 9:23) we are told to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. This means that we must die to what we want to do and take up Jesus mission. Which is to seek and save that which was lost.

The Theological Solution

To solve this problem we must examine the heart of why believers do not want to die to themselves. First, we must acknowledge that dying to self is not easy. One reason for this is because we have a big EGO. Which means Edging God Out. When our EGO’s get big we push God to the side and refuse to submit to our daily death. Next, believers must realize that they will not be able to live the Christian life unless they stop trying to live it! Believers must rely on the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is impossible to live unless you are living out of the overflow of your walk with Christ. To die daily means to live for Christ all the time!

The Application

In conclusion, believers must learn how to die daily because it is the only way to see true change. We die to ourselves because Christ is worthy. We die to ourselves because Jesus is worth living for.

What is holding you back from picking up your cross daily? Think of what would happen in our homes, churches, cities, and states if believers died to themselves.

I challenge you to die to your wants and desires and seek Christ above all.

What are you waiting for?
