Where Does Your Help Come From?

Today’s Reading, Psalms 120-125

Focal Scripture: Psalms 121:1-2 “I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

When we feel alone we often wonder where and if we will get help. Even though many of us try to do things on our own we know when we are in over our heads. This is where the Psalmist finds himself. He is looking for help and wondering where and when it will arrive.

If you have ever been in a situation like this it can make you desperate. It can make you wonder if you’re on the right path. This psalmist understands that he doesn’t need human help, he needs the Lord. The help he gets is from the maker of heaven and earth. Perfect and unfailing help that will be exactly what is needed.

As believers we are going to need help. Sometimes we will look to other people we know to help us but God wants us to be dependent on him. To completely trust him, even when we can’t see the final plan. Not to trust in others for our deliverance.

I challenge you today to examine your thinking. Do you believe that your help will come from God? When you’re desperate do you desire God or man? Know that God wants us to depend on him. Fix your eyes on God. He will walk with you and help you through your circumstances.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Psalms 126-132
