We All Will Stand Before the Son of Man

Today’s Reading, Luke 21-22

Focal Scripture: Luke 21:36 “But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”

I think we lose sight that we will stand before the Lord one day. I say that because far too often we live our lives as if we are not going to be held accountable for our choices and our actions. I have seen this first hand when I speak with people concerning their salvation or their view of God. Even professing believers go about thinking they can live however they want with no accountability. This attitude does not reflect the bibles teachings nor does it uphold the standard that Christ gave us to follow.

In today’s reading Jesus is talking about the last days. He is giving a detailed description of what these days will look like and how people need to have a watchful eye. Jesus tells everyone that the coming of the Lord will come fast. It will happen like a trap that you were not expecting to see. This judgement will not just apply to a certain group of people. It will be enacted upon the entire world. The person that will judge is the Lord Jesus Christ himself.

I truly believe that if we lived like everything we did was going to be judged by Jesus many things would change. How we treated other people would be more biblical. How we spent our time would look different because holiness would be our goal. We would openly share our faith with everyone we came across because we know they will be judged by the only one who has the authority.

The challenge I have for you and myself is to live with purpose and passion. It is to live the Christian walk with a watchful eye. Knowing that he can return at any moment. Then when he does return he will separate the believer from the unbeliever. He will also separate our works and our thoughts. We must have our hearts pulled towards heaven but our eyes focused on what’s around us because we have a mission to complete.

Are you being watchful? Are you expecting the return of the Lord? Let’s live in such a way that brings glory to the Lord and encourages others to be believers.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Luke 23-24
