Today’s Reading, Ecclesiastes 5-8
Focal Scripture: Ecclesiastes 7:8 “The end of a matter is better than its beginning; a patient spirit is better than a proud spirit.”
Patience is something we all struggle with in our lives. Some people will have more patience than others but eventually everyone has a point where it runs out. If we are listening, patience is one of the greatest teachers we will ever have. It teaches us to wait. It teaches us to see the bigger picture.
In these verses it says the end of a matter is better than its beginning. This means that when you’re going through trials and tribulations that the end result is better because of the outcome. In other words after you have gone through the difficult season you can see what you learned. You can see how patience works in your life when you don’t understand what’s happening. This takes an attitude of waiting and trust.
As believers we need to know that our spirit is either patient or proud. We are going to be a person who thinks they have all of the answers to every question. Or we are going to be a person that uses wisdom and patience before a response is given. This ability shows how a person views the circumstances in their lives. By that I mean a person will believe they know why everything is happening in the middle of a circumstance or they will be patient and see the end result. One is an attitude of pride, one is an attitude of wisdom.
I challenge yo today to be a person who embraces patience. Be slow to speak and quick to wait on the Lord. See the big picture of events not the small picture that we experience in the middle. Patience is a virtue and a fruit of the spirit.
Tomorrow I plan on reading Ecclesiastes 9-12
