The Glory of Christ

Today’s Reading, Matthew 17-19

Focal Scripture: Matthew 17:2 “He was transfigured in front of them, and his face shone like the sun; his clothes became as white as the light.”

Seeing a big change can be shocking to the senses. Maybe it is someone you haven’t seen in a while and they look completely different. It could be your hometown after being gone for an extended amount of time. It is even possible that the change is in you, maybe you have grown in your personal or professional life. No matter what a big change gets attention.

In today’s verse we read that Peter, James, and John were with Jesus on the Mount. On this mountain Jesus unveiled himself and revealed who he has always been. It was an astonishing moment. They were being told that Jesus was different. Now they have seen it for themselves. They even got to see Moses and Elijah. Then the voice of God gave them instructions to follow Christ.

This had to be amazing and overwhelming. The person they have been with this entire time revealed to others what was being hidden. A major change took place that would encourage them for the task at hand.

My challenge for you today is to realize that Jesus is glorified. We serve a savior who is holy. When he comes again it will not be as the suffering servant. He will come in his glory and reveal to the world his true character. The glory of Christ will be revealed. This will change everything.

The great news is that we don’t have to wait for it to change everything. It should change us now. It should change how we live and how we operate. It should change our thinking and our actions. The glory of Christ should propel our worship.

Focus on the glory of Christ. Call out like Moses and ask God to show you his glory. Don’t just hope for it but expect it. God will reveal himself just when we need it in our lives.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Matthew 20-21
