Today’s Reading, John 3-4
Focal Scripture: John 4:4 “He had to travel through Samaria;”
Have you ever had to do anything before? I don’t mean something that you thought about doing but something that you were compelled to do. So much so that nothing else mattered. It has happened a few times in my life and every time it happened it turned out to be a God ordained event.
In today’s reading we see that Jesus had a divine appointment with the woman from Samaria. The KJV says it beautifully “He must needs to through Samaria.” Jesus didn’t just plan to go through Samaria he had to go through Samaria. He had a divine appointment with a woman who needed a divine encounter. This encounter would dramatically change her life and our perception of sinners.
Jesus encounter with the Samaritan woman teaches us a lesson of God’s providence and sovereignty. Jesus was not going to be stopped until he accomplished his conversation with the woman. We need to understand that God’s will is not going to be stopped at all in our lives. God knows what is best and will work out the details to make sure his perfect purposes take place.
This should give us peace and great confidence in our lives. We can know that no matter what we go through God is in control. No matter what difficulties in our lives God will meet us right where we are at exactly the right time.
I am not saying we will have a life that is void of stress or heartache. What I am saying is that in the middle of the chaos God will meet us right where we are and give us exactly what we need in our lives. It will be a divine appointment with the sovereign creator of the universe.
This is why we must trust that God’s ways are best.
