Blood Has Power for those who Believe in the Lord

Today’s Reading Exodus 10-12

Focal Scripture:Exodus 12:13 “The blood on houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

Christianity is a bloody religion. Sin requires death. Forgiveness requires blood. Here in this story we come to the last plague. The death of the firstborn human and animal in the land of Egypt. This was done to show just how powerful god is and how hard Pharaoh’s heart had become. He was told what would happen and still chose death for him and his people.

However, God provided a way out. God gave Moses very specific instructions on how to avoid death in the house of the Israelites. He told Moses that a young animal was to be killed, sacrificed, then consumed. After that they were to get the blood of the animal and put it around the door post. When the angel of the Lord came later that night he would passover that house and death would not take place.

It is important to note that no matter what, every house in Egypt experienced death that night. Sin has very real consequences.

This is true not just during this time period but today as well. Many people believe they can go through life and sin not cause any problems. The Bible teaches that the shedding of blood leads to the remission of sins. Just the way the angel of the Lord passed over houses that have the blood applied to the doorpost. God will passover judgement on those who have Christ’s blood applied to their lives.

Ask yourself this question have you had the blood of Christ applied to your life? If not one day you will face judgement just the way the nation of Egypt did and you will also experience death.

If you have doubts about your salvation it is time to get that settled today. Repent, Confess, Believe, and Tell that Christ died for your sins and that you are his and he is yours.

Tomorrow’s reading Exodus 13-15
