Chosen By The Lord

Today’s Reading, Jeremiah 1-3

Focal Scripture: Jeremiah 1:5 “I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Knowing what your meant to do in life is very important. Why? Because it sets the stage for what you will do with the majority of your time you’re alive. It sets the goal of your education, where you will live, friends, and even your view of the world. So how does one know what you are supposed to do with your life? I believe we have a say but ultimately if we are listening we will understand we have been chosen by the Lord for a specific task.

In today’s reading we see the call of Jeremiah. The Bible tells us that God chose him even before he was formed in the womb. He was set apart for a task even before he was born. Then he is told that he has been appointed a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah knew his purpose and his calling. Jeremiah was chosen by the Lord. He knew his life’s mission because God told him and made it clear.

I know what I am called to do with my life. It is to invest in teenagers and show them the truth of the gospel. God has given me a burden to teach and lead teenagers so they can know the truth of the scriptures. Over the years it has looked different. I have served in churches and then in schools. Sometimes, I have served in both roles. My biggest calling from the Lord is to be an advocate for the teaching and preaching of God’s word. It is a passion that doesn’t come from me but from how God formed me before I was even born.

So what about you? Do you know what purpose God has placed in your life? I know it can seem difficult and overwhelming. However, God doesn’t want to make this difficult for you and hide it from you so you always wonder what is next. If you are struggling I challenge you to take some time and examine how God has gifted you and follow your passion towards your mission. Pray for God to reveal to you your calling and know that you have been chosen by him for his purpose.

He knows you and loves you. He desires for you to fulfill your purpose which always leads back to him getting the glory.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Jeremiah 4-6
