Do What Is Good

Today’s Reading, Micah 1-7

Focal Scripture: Micah 6:8 “Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
‭‭

Having clear expectations is a good way to understand your role. If you have ever been in a situation where the expectations changed, weren’t clear, or were not communicated well you know the frustration that causes. When expectations change it causes mass confusion for everyone involved. It even shows the poor leadership at the top. I have experienced that before and I can tell you from experience how dysfunctional it is everyday.

In our reading today we get lots of information. We see that God is going to judge the nation of Israel but he offers them hope. We see that God is going to judge the leaders because they are evil. We also see that God is going to give a remnant a promise of a future hope. How does that happen? By doing what is good and what the Lord requires. Acting justly, loving faithfulness and to walk humbly. The lord is giving clear expectations about what he wants from his people. Even when the leaders of the day are evil.

So the application for believers today is to do good. Especially when leaders around you are failing. Our standard for living is focused on God not those around us on a daily basis. My expectations come from the Lord. I recently left a situation where for the first time in my life I experienced a bad leader. They violated scripture and did not meet the expectations of Micah 6:8.

Because the situation was not going to change I had to leave. I had to go to a place where people would love good more than they love themselves. My challenge to you today is to do good and not conform to those around you. Far too often when evil happens excuses get made and the truth is hidden. That is not doing good. That is violating scripture.

So in all you do love God, love faithfulness, act justly and walk humbly with God. People will notice the difference.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Nahum 1-3
