Do You Love The Instruction Of The Lord?

Today’s Reading, Psalms 119

Focal Scripture: Psalms 119:113-114 “I hate those who are double-minded, but I love your instruction. You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in your word.”

Psalms 119 is devoted to the word of the Lord. This psalm demonstrates the importance of meditating and knowing the word of God. It is life changing and heart changing. When the word takes priority personal and corporate lives will change.

The psalmist starts off with stating that he has a problem with those who are double minded. Those who are duplicitous of heart. Their minds are split and are pulled in two different directions. In this verse it means those who know the word but live differently. After all if you live differently than how we have been instructed it demonstrates that the truth hasn’t taken full effect in your life.

He then states that the loves the instruction of the Lord, that instruction comes from the law. The psalmist then acknowledges that God is his shelter and shield. All his hope in his word. He knows that he knows about God from the writings and from the law.

The application for believers is paramount to a holy life. You must read the Bible. Not just some of it but all of it so it can transform you and give you knowledge. The Bible gives us instruction on how to live, how to worship, how to conduct ourselves, and how to repent.

I challenge you today to make the word a priority. Even if you start small just make knowing God your number one goal. If you attend a church that doesn’t make it a priority, find another one. We know God more intimately when we know his word well.

Love his instruction and watch it transform your life.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Psalms 120-125
