Endure Insults from Your Adversaries

Today’s Reading, Psalms 65-67 & 69-70

Focal Scripture: Psalms 69:19 “You know the insults I endure — my shame and disgrace. You are aware of all my adversaries.”

If you have ever been insulted, you know how frustrating it can be to endure the nonsense. Especially when what is being said is not true. I had this happen to me almost two years ago after I made a decision that was best for my family and me. I was in a position where God was moving, and people were being saved. However, I had to leave because of the working environment and the supervisor. When I resigned from my position, I gave a very detailed explanation as to why I was leaving. However, soon after I left, I was approached by numerous people and told of the insults being said about me. They also told me the lies that were being told about my departure from those in leadership. It was and has been frustrating to be insulted and to hear lies told to protect an individual and an organization.

In today’s reading, David explains that God knows about the insults that he was enduring every day. God knew about his adversaries and exactly who they were in his life. David was experiencing pain and frustration. He was feeling alone and attacked. The only person who understood his frustration was the Lord in heaven.

I can relate to David in his situation. Even two years after I resigned from my position, I am still being insulted. Lies are still being told about my departure. Some people are even trying to sabotage current and future opportunities that have been presented to me over the last few years.

These people who are making statements that are untrue will be held accountable. Many times, I have wanted to tell all of the details behind my departure. However, the Lord has not allowed me to do so at this moment. My faith and trust are in the Lord and the fact that he knows my situation.

So right now, I will endure insults and take them on the chin. God knows the truth and those who are attempting to cause problems.

The challenge I have for you is to endure the insults biblically. Never retaliate and be like those who don’t tell the truth. The Lord will handle your adversaries. He will vindicate you, and the truth will be revealed. Trust him and his word. Never compromise the truth to act like people who hurl insults.

When you endure, you will grow spiritually and emotionally. You will come out better in the end. Trust the process and trust God’s knowledge.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading 2 Samuel 11-12 & 1 Chronicles 20
