Give Thanks Daily

Today’s Reading 1 Chronicles 15-17

Focal Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.”
‭‭

Giving thanks to the Lord should be an everyday occurrence. David understood this more than most. He is thankful for what God has done with him in his life to this point. He is thankful to still be alive.

In this context though David is thankful that the Lord has allowed him to bring the ark of the covenant back. That the priests are back to doing their jobs. That sacrifices are being performed. He is thankful that the people are doing what God has asked.

How often do we thank the Lord? Even in difficult circumstances. We know David’s story. He was on the run. He was hunted. He was hiding in caves. However he knew whom he served.

This is a lesson we should apply. We need to be thankful in all circumstances. Even when things look bleak. Our enemies do not have total control over us. They are subject to the Lord as well. Let us dwell on his goodness and give him the thanks he deserves.

This attitude will change our hearts in a powerful way. It will change our daily perspective.

Tomorrow I Plan on Reading 1 Chronicles 18-21
