God Vindicates His Servants

Today’s Reading, 2 Chronicles 35-36

Focal Scripture: 2 Chronicles 36:16 “But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising his words, and scoffing at his prophets, until the Lord’s wrath was so stirred up against his people that there was no remedy.”

Biblical justice is difficult to wait on when sin needs to be judged. I can speak from personal experience that seeing evil, untruth and sin go unpunished becomes frustrating. However, I must be reminded that the actions that are happening are not ultimately being committed against me but against a Holy God. God will vindicate his glory when and how he sees fit.

In today’s reading we see how people kept ridiculing Gods messengers. They ignored the words that were spoken and even scoffed the prophets. This continually happened until God’s wrath was stirred up against these people and the Bible tells us that there was no remedy for them. This tells us clearly that God takes seriously the treatment of his messengers. Abuse will not be tolerated and brings judgement.

So what does this mean for us today? It means that when someone speaks on behalf of God we need to listen carefully and not judge and ridicule them to stir up Gods wrath. This also means we must know who is speaking correctly on behalf of God. To determine this we must look at the persons fruit in ministry.

Often you can have gifted communicators or charismatic leaders speak on behalf of God but their spiritual fruit is almost nonexistent. These people can sway a room, be funny and even be a joy to be around. However, they speak for themselves and not for God.

The challenge we have is to call out false messengers while simultaneously taking to heart the words of Gods preachers. Let me tell you from personal experience when you speak for God and stick to his truth people will come after you and speak all types of vile against you to others.

This is why the faithful servants need to trust God that he will vindicate them when things get ugly. When you speak truth God will handle the naysayers and the haters. Why? Because God will honor the servants who honor his word.

Hold bad teachers accountable and be careful how you treat his faithful servants. God is watching and knows the hearts of everyone involved.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Ezra 1-3
