Godly Insight and Understanding

Today’s Reading 1 Chronicles 22-24

Focal Scripture: 1 Chronicles 22:12 “Above all, may the Lord give you insight and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.”

David tells his son Solomon that he will be the one to build the temple for God. David is kind and gracious to his son. He asks that the Lord will give him insight and understanding to lead. That he will keep the law of the Lord.

That success comes from following the law of the Lord given to Moses. This is good leadership on David’s part. He didn’t tell his son to follow him. He didn’t say look at me I have the answers. He wanted him to be pointed to God. The only one who can truly help Solomon.

This should encourage us as believers and humble us. We need to make sure that we always point our children and those who serve with us to Christ. Only he can give the wisdom and insight people need to be successful.

David was humble enough to not take any credit or demand obedience from his son. He was well aware that is was God working in him that changed everything. Biblical leaders know where their leadership comes from and make sure those they lead don’t follow man but God.

For many people in leadership they believe that it all starts and ends with them. That they are the ones who control the tide. Biblical leadership creates an environment where God is in charge and the man on the ground is just the facilitator of God’s wisdom.

This is why David wanted insight and wisdom for Solomon. This is why he wanted his son to obey the law of the Lord.

They changes everything. It should also affect how we deal with people and our families.

Tomorrow I Plan on reading 1 Chronicles 25-27
