How Is Your Walk Before The Lord

Today’s Reading, Isaiah 36-39

Focal Scripture: Isaiah 38:3 “He said, “Please, Lord, remember how I have walked before you faithfully and wholeheartedly, and have done what pleases you.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.”

What can you claim about your walk with the Lord? When I lived in Metro Atlanta I got to meet many people who had a different worldview than myself. I met people who knew nothing about the church or its culture. I met people who were brutally honest about their spiritual condition. They knew they didn’t have a walk with the Lord. In my opinion people who think that way are easy to have gospel conversations with in detail. Why? Because they don’t let religion get in the way of the way they walk.

Then I run into people all the time that can give me all the answers and grew up in church but don’t know Jesus. They have a head knowledge but their hearts have never been transformed by his life changing power. Their walk is one that looks the part but when you press them they crumble. They have a walk that doesn’t involve their heart. In today’s reading, Hezekiah makes it clear that his heart was for the Lord. He only wanted to please God and showed remorse when his heart was exposed.

So that is the challenge I have for you and myself today. How is your walk? Can you claim to want to know the Lord intimately? Not only can you claim it, but do you have the proof to back it up. Do others in your life see evidence of a changed heart and life?

It has become clearer the older I have gotten that people know how to play the church game around themselves and others. Especially in the Deep South. They understand the verbiage and they understand the social expectations. However, what many do not understand is the life changing gospel that affects a persons heart and soul.

Can we claim like Hezekiah that we have walked faithfully and wholeheartedly before the Lord? Our goal is not to check off a box but to make sure we are genuinely changed by Gods power. To make sure we understand salvation and have it be our defining moment in our lives.

Our walk is an overflow of the change that has happened in our hearts. Check your walk and then check your heart and make sure you know the God of the Bible.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Isaiah 40-44
