Today’s Reading, Genesis 4-7
Focal Scripture: Genesis 6:22 “And Noah did this. He did everything that God had commanded him.”
In our lives we are asked to listen and to obey others for a variety of reasons. When we were kids there was an expectation on us to listen to our parents. This was to help us grow up and protect us from causing harm in our lives. We are also expected to obey laws in society and not break them. People make choices to obey and not obey everyday. These choices have both positive and negative implications in our lives.
In today’s reading it is revealed that Noah obeyed God without question. He was given a task that nobody else has accomplished. He was the first to do everything he was commanded to do. Instead of questions and speculation his heart was to please God. Noah’s attitude is what all believers should practice in their daily life. Noah should be our example on doing extraordinary things in our walk with the Lord.
As believers we are expected to obey God. Thankfully, God is good. Our problem as believers is to not put our issues from others on God. Being around people long enough you will find those who want to assert their control and make you obey them no matter what. They will try to destroy you and manipulate you. Because of this you may be hesitant to obey immediately in your spiritual walk.
Our challenge as believers is to know whom we worship and how he is always faithful. We must change our thinking when we are asked to obey God. God sees the big picture, we see the narrative that we want to happen. Obedience leads to happiness in God’s kingdom. It leads to people being spared.
What do you need to obey God in today?
Tomorrow, I plan on reading Genesis 8-11
