Our Champion In Heaven

Today’s Reading, Jeremiah 49-50

Focal Scripture: Jeremiah 50:34 “Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of Armies is his name. He will fervently champion their cause so that he might bring rest to the earth but turmoil to those who live in Babylon.”

Having someone root for you can help you through difficult times. Through my life I have had the privilege of being in settings where I was rotted for privately and publicly. It has happened in a small setting and a large setting. No matter what the occasion the fact I was being rooted for gave me some extra energy. Especially if the task at hand was difficult or required mental focus.

In today’s reading God is giving more judgement to the nations. Here specifically he is judging Babylon. In that judgement we see him take care of the nation of Israel. In our focal verse for today it says that God is strong. He will fervently champion the cause of the nation of Israel. So much so that rest will come to the Earth because God cares about his people. God roots for his people to succeed and be successful.

Do you believe that God roots for you? It is amazing how many times we can have more faith in humans than we do the Lord himself. We can have more belief that people will show up on our behalf before the Lord of heaven and earth. I think that sometimes we believe that God is not rooting for us to win.

Some people have the mindset that God is only out to destroy us and make our lives miserable. I am here to tell you that he is a champion for us as believers. We are his people and he wants us to succeed. How do we succeed? By living our lives completely devoted to him but first we must give him our lives. Our God is not only judge he is an encourager. He knows what we need and is rooting for us to see him as he really is in our lives.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Jeremiah 51-52
