The All Wise and Powerful God

Today’s Reading, Job 6-9

Focal Scripture: Job 9:4 “God is wise and all-powerful. Who has opposed him and come out unharmed?”

Where do you look for wisdom? Some people look to books to gain knowledge. Other people pursue education and advanced degrees. I even know of serval people who get mentored in specific jobs, this way they gain knowledge and experience. I have even heard of gamers explain their process for becoming better than others, they do it by knowing the map or the environment extremely well. They are pursuing wisdom.

In today’s reading Job and his friends are having a conversation. In this conversation we hear this statement said “God is wise and all powerful, who has opposed him and come out unharmed.” This statement is made because Job has questioned his own existence. His friends are saying he has sin that needs to be dealt with and that is the reason God is judging him. They know God is wise and all powerful. They understand that any one who opposes him will be destroyed. However, they don’t understand God’s wisdom biblically.

It is important we address God’s wisdom biblically. God is all knowing. He exists outside of space and time. He is not surprised by anything and knows exactly what is going to take place. No situation or experience is outside of his knowledge. This means he speaks as one who has authority. He is not one who is searching for knowledge but already possess all knowledge.

How does this truth impact our lives? It impacts us in how we pray to the Lord. We know when we pray, he hears us and gives us perfect wisdom through his word. It also impacts us because we know his teachings can be trusted. Most importantly, it should push us to know the Lord in an extremely personal and intimate way.

If you lack wisdom, come to the Lord and watch what he does in your life. Are you suffering? Seek his face and ask for wisdom. Don’t understand his ways? He will give comfort to your weary soul. The Lord is good and he will give you the answer you need, not necessarily the answer you want. God is wise and powerful. God is in the details.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Job 10-13
