Today’s Reading, Job 32-34
Focal Scripture: Job 34:10 “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding. It is impossible for God to do wrong, and for the Almighty to act unjustly.”
Have you ever had a conversation with someone that went terribly wrong? On one hand they may be giving some truth but they completely miss the big picture. They become so focused on what they think and believe that they don’t see things from an objective view. To make matters worse they are passionate and you can’t even have a conversation with them because they are right and you are wrong. It becomes very frustrating.
In today’s reading we see this take place. Elihu one of jobs friends begins to speak. He is very accurate about God’s character is in speech. God never does wrong. He never acts unjustly. His ways are perfect. So he gets God’s character correct in this aspect. However, where he is wrong is that God can and will allow things to happen for his glory and his good. He will even allow bad things to take place. What he missed is that Job is allowed to have questions. He is allowed to seek knowledge. He missed that sin doesn’t have to be the cause of bad things happening.
What we need to take away from this reading today is to make sure we have correct view of God’s character. God is holy and just. God is sovereign. God is perfect and doesn’t make mistakes. This includes what he does and even what he allows. It is important to point out that God doesn’t do the evil. God does however see the bigger picture. He knows the plans for our lives. He knows that what the enemy intends for evil can be used for his glory.
Remember in the beginning of Job God brought Job up to Satan. He didn’t do this to punish Job. He did that to reveal Jobs character. His faithfulness and his steadfastness. He did it to encourage us as present believers.
God wants us to understand his character. He wants us to know he is good and righteous. He also wants us to know that he doesn’t think and operate the way we do in our lives. God is correct in his thinking and always behaves in ways that do not violate his character.
I encourage you to know Gods character. Trust it but most importantly trust him.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading Job 35-37
