The Lord is Always on the Move

Today’s Reading, Psalms 146-150

Focal Scripture: Psalms 146:8 “The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are oppressed. The Lord loves the righteous.”

Moving houses is a big deal. It requires planning and an agenda. It requires knowing where things are and where they need to go when you arrive. It also means that big changes are on the horizon. Personally, I have moved more times than I have ever wanted to and it stresses me out. Moving homes means many changes and unpredictability on the horizon. Even though I embrace change in many aspects I also like normalcy. I like knowing where I will be and what is to come next.

In today’s verse we see that the Lord is always on the move. He brings big changes in our personal lives and in the lives of those around us daily. This verse declares that the Lord will open the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are oppressed. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord is moving in the lives of these people even if they can’t see it or understand it at the moment.

I need to emphasize here that the Lord is opening the eyes of the physically blind and the spiritually blind. He is raising up those who are physically oppressed and spiritually oppressed. Then he loves those who seek righteousness in their lives. I also want to make clear that the way this is done might not be the way we expect. Healing and deliverance can come in many different forms. Sometimes we believe that if it doesn’t happen a certain way then God doesn’t really care.

For instance if a person is oppressed spiritually we often pray that God would deliver them from their oppressors. That everything would work out perfectly and neatly. However, what if the way they are delivered from their oppression is to be martyred for their faith. How often do we pray that the Lord deliver us from our oppressors even if that means our lives be taken in the process. Our prayers and our understanding must not just work in the USA is must also work in a third world country.

So my challenge to you today is for you to understand that God is always moving and working. He heals and delivers. He loves those who do right. Even though God is always moving we must adjust our expectations to match biblically. God will move it just might not be the way we expect.

I am not sure what you are facing personally today. However, know this that God will move and work in your life. Just expect it to be on his terms and not on yours. Your deliverance and redemption might come in unexpected ways. It could cost you little or it could cost you much. No matter what God is good and God cares about his people.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Proverbs 1-3
